Bringing Communion to Homebound Family

Unfortunately, due to concerns from the coronavirus we have stopped our ministry of bringing Communion to our homebound parishioners. We pray that this pandemic will stop soon so that we can minister to all our parish family in need. However, Family members are welcome to bring their homebound loved ones Communion now that we have started our regularly scheduled Sunday Mass times. The Diocese of San Diego has put out some resources that will help give a better understanding of this important ministry.

Click here: Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion for the Homebound for a brief training video for your parishioners to bring the Eucharist to the members of their household who are unable to attend Mass. Click on the following links to download the EMHC Quick Reference in English and EMHC Quick Reference Guide in Spanish.  The video indicates that the permission of the pastor and particular parish directives for receiving the Eucharist in the pyx are a necessary follow up at your parish.   If you have any questions, please call Noreen McInnes, 858-490-8291 or email nmcinnes@sdcatholic.org.
