MISSION STATEMENT

In response to God’s call, to participate in the ministry of consolation, to serve the needs of the grieving family, to assist the priest at the funeral or memorial Mass, to pray for the dead and to comfort those who mourn.

To lessen the family’s burden in planning and hosting a reception for funeral/memorial services we aid in the area of Hospitality by offering a social setting for gathering in the parish hall after the church service. The parish hall can be booked for a single time block of two hours. We provide coffee, lemonade, cookies and paper products and will pick up trays from a local deli.

Each November the Bereavement Ministry sponsors an All Souls Remembrance Mass. This Mass is for all parishioners to be able to remember their deceased loved ones in a special way. Loved ones names appear in a Keepsake Program and a candle is lit for each name. This Mass is greatly anticipated and we are happy to do this service for our parish.

A big Thank You from the Bereavement Ministry to all who participated in Remembrance Sunday. The Memorial of names is displayed on the church bulletin board. Here are some pictures from the event:

The members of the Bereavement Ministry welcome any parishioners who would like to assist in this ministry. For more information or to volunteer please contact the office, (858) 277-3133, and ask for Belle Grubbs or Barbara Alexander.
