Each year we are invited to participate in the Diocesan-wide Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA), which supports the essential ministries and services which benefit many in our Local Church. This past year has been a time of deep hardship and struggle for all of us. And yet, Bishop McElroy tells us: we stand today with a profound sense of hope that the Pandemic may soon be over. It is so appropriate that the theme of our Annual Catholic Appeal this year is “Living Our Mission.” For our work of the Diocese of San Diego in the time ahead will indeed be to prayerfully live our mission as we move out of pandemic towards a reenergized and renewed Church in San Diego and Imperial Counties.

Our Annual Catholic Appeal will support the formation of and care for our priests, who dedicate their lives to God and to the service and love of all our brothers and sisters in Christ. The Appeal will support our Catholic schools and faith formation programs, which bring hope and faith to our young people and lead us to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ. The Appeal will support our office of marriage, family life and spirituality in its focus on strengthening the family at this time in our history. The Appeal will also help Catholic Charities to continue the good works of serving our neediest brothers and sisters and all who have suffered most greatly from the social and economic devastation of the past year.

Many of you will receive the ACA brochures in the mail, there will be more brochures available in the church. The brochures describe the many programs and ministries that are supported by your contribution to the Annual Catholic Appeal and how the funds are designated.  Many of these programs result in important direct benefits to our parish faith community and others provide needed assistance to people around us. We can only do this work by joining together as a Catholic Community. Our parish directly benefits from your donation in so many ways.

Based on the Diocesan-wide target of $3.5 million, our parish ACA assessment for 2022 is $50,000 (the same as last year). Your generosity in the past assures me that we will be able to make and even exceed that goal. Once we reach our goal, any funds pledged and paid over our assessed amount are returned to the parish. Thanks to your generosity, we expect to get a rebate for last year’s ACA of $17,000.

Please prayerfully consider what you can pledge this year. No payment is required when you make the pledge, though you can include partial or full payment if you prefer. You can bring the completed response envelope with you on February 19 & 20, the weekend of the Appeal. You can also mail it in or bring it to the office, or make your pledge online at www.giving.sdcatholic.org (be sure to designate St. Catherine Labouré as your parish).

Llamamiento Católico Anual

Cada año estamos invitados a participar en la Campaña Católica Anual (ACA), que apoya los ministerios y servicios esenciales que benefician a muchos en nuestra Iglesia Local. Este último año ha sido un momento de profundas dificultades y lucha para todos nosotros. Y, sin embargo, el obispo McElroy nos dice: estamos hoy con un profundo sentido de esperanza de que la pandemia pronto pueda haber terminado. Es tan apropiado que el tema de nuestro Llamamiento Católico Anual de este año es “Vivir Nuestra Misión”. Porque nuestro trabajo de la Diócesis de San Diego en el futuro será vivir en oración nuestra misión a medida que salimos de la pandemia hacia una Iglesia revitalizada y renovada en los condados de San Diego e Imperial.

Nuestro Llamamiento Católico Anual apoyará la formación y el cuidado de nuestros sacerdotes, que dedican sus vidas a Dios y al servicio y amor de todos nuestros hermanos y hermanas en Cristo. El Llamamiento apoyará nuestras escuelas católicas y programas de formación en la fe, que traen esperanza y fe a nuestros jóvenes y nos llevan a proclamar las Buenas Nuevas de Jesucristo. El Llamamiento apoyará nuestra oficina de matrimonio, vida familiar y espiritualidad en su enfoque en el fortalecimiento de la familia en este momento de nuestra historia. El Llamamiento también ayudará a Caridades Católicas a continuar las buenas obras de servir a nuestros hermanos y hermanas más necesitados y a todos los que han sufrido más por la devastación social y económica del año pasado.

Los folletos de ACA habrá disponibles en la iglesia la próxima semana. Los folletos describen los muchos programas y ministerios que son apoyados por su contribución a la Campaña Católica Anual y cómo se designan los fondos. Muchos de estos programas resultan en importantes beneficios directos para nuestra comunidad de fe parroquial y otros brindan la asistencia necesaria a las personas que nos rodean. Sólo podemos hacer este trabajo uniéndonos como una Comunidad Católica. Nuestra parroquia se beneficia directamente de su donación de muchas maneras.

Basado en el objetivo diocesano de $ 3.5 millones, nuestra evaluación parroquial de ACA para 2022 es de $ 50,000 (la misma que el año pasado).

Su generosidad en el pasado me asegura que seremos capaces de hacer e incluso superar ese objetivo. Una vez que alcanzamos nuestra meta, los fondos prometidos y pagados por encima de nuestra cantidad evaluada son devueltos a la parroquia.

Por favor, consideren en oración lo que pueden prometer este año. No se requiere ningún pago cuando hace la promesa, aunque puede incluir el pago parcial o total si lo prefiere. Puede traer el sobre de respuesta completo con usted el 19 de febrero de 2022, el fin de semana de la Apelación. También puede enviarlo por correo o traerlo de vuelta en cualquier momento, o hacer su promesa en línea en www.giving.sdcatholic.org (asegúrese de designar a Santa Catalina Labourè como su parroquia).
