We regret to inform you that Fr. Noel Thompson, died on 08/02/18 at Nazareth House.  Fr. Thompson was born on 12/16/29 in Longford, Ireland and ordained 05/05/1954 for the Diocese of San Diego. Fr. Thompson served the Diocese of San Diego at Saint Mary Magdalene Parish from 1954-1957; as chaplain for the Army/Air Force from 1963-1987; Our Lady of the Sacred Heart from 1960 to 1962; and St. Catherine Labouré from 1984-1989.

A Funeral Mass is schedule for Friday, August 17, at 11:00 a.m., here at Saint Catherine Labouré Church.

Fr. Noel was associate pastor here at the time when I was discerning my vocation to the priesthood. He said to me, “Brian, with all you know about the Bible, you can probably become a pastor now at one of these protestant churches, instead of having to spend years in the seminary to become a priest.” I responded, “Yeah, but I think my calling is to minister to the Catholics, and for that it’s better to be a priest!”
