Sharing God’s Gifts

February 10 & 11 begins the Annual Catholic Appeal: Sharing our Gifts. We all have gifts and resources from God, and sharing them is a lifeline for others, while giving us great joy. Our participation in the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) supports the wonderful efforts of Bishop McElroy to invigorate our parish and diocesan ministries. He recently called for the Synod on the Family, which led to the creation of the Family Life and Spirituality Office, in support of our parish efforts to help families of all shapes and sizes. The ACA also supports the other Diocesan Ministries and Outreach Programs that offer compassion and teach the way of Christ to so many in our diocese: service to the poor, training of seminarians, the ongoing formation of all of our priests, and the presence of Christ for those imprisoned.

The ACA supports the Diocesan programs that our own parishioners have opportunities to benefit from, for example: Marriage Preparation programs; Youth programs like Camp Emmaus; and diocesan in-service programs for our catechists. It supports the formation of seminarians and priests, as well as care of retired priests. It also supports the Missions Office, directed by Fr. Miller, and Catholic schools like St. Columba and St. Mary Magdalene.

Based on the Diocesan-wide target of $3.5 million, our parish ACA assessment for 2018 is $50,000. Your generosity in the past is very assuring that this parish will be able to make and even exceed that goal. Once our goal is met, any funds pledged and paid over our assessed amount are returned to the parish. Indeed, the rebate for last year’s ACA was about $26,000.

We are so very grateful for your consideration to donate to this appeal. You can click here to donate through the Diocesan website (please select St. Catherine’s as your parish).

May our sharing of gifts with one another and with others in the Diocese help us all to experience the joy and peace of the Holy Spirit.
