She speaks both in the US and abroad, and recently completed a lecture tour in China. Advent, as preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus, recalls both the situation into which Jesus was born and the beliefs of the Jewish tradition that prepared for him. This lecture will survey how Christianity emerged from those beliefs, came to understand the identity of Jesus as foretold by the Hebrew prophets, and has continued to find hope in the meaning of his birth. |
